The Guild looks forward to interacting with the public at local public events. Members gather to demonstrate basket weaving, share their knowledge and love of the ancient art of basketry and often have their own handcrafted baskets for sale.

TASTE OF APPALACHIA AT THE NORTHEAST LIBRARY ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2026!

Thanks to the library staff for their invitation, hospitality and support at their Taste of Appalachia Event! The guild spoke with visitors about Appalachia basket traditions, showed some samples of white oak baskets and about legends and information about Cherokee Indians who lived along the Appalachia trail. Baskets were also shown that had Cherokee designs woven into them –
Cherokee Crosses and Cherokee Wheels.
Visitors were able to weave a row or two on a demo basket. What a wonderful library and great event!!
